10 Iconic Batman Comics That Could Inspire Matt Reeves' Batman Trilogy

6. The Court Of The Owls

The New 52 continuity isn’t exactly the most well-received. However one arc that does endear to fans is that surrounding the Court of Owls. Created by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, this serves as the introduction to the mysterious secret society that has been running Gotham for centuries.

In what somewhat felt like a European version of the League of Shadows (minus immortal ninjas), the Court had been responsible for many of Gotham’s worst tragedies. This included a time when they targeted Thomas Wayne, as he was getting in the way of them manipulating Gotham.

The story is a riveting tale of Batman waging a one-man war against the machine. And honestly, given its importance in modern Batman lore, it’s hard to imagine this not featuring in the upcoming trilogy in some shape or form.
