9. Brach's Candy Factory In Chicago
Heath Ledger cemented his status as one of the best actors of all time for his portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight. One of the actor's more impressive scenes involved an old-fashion school candy-striper uniform, a detonator, and the signature "Why So Serious?" smile.

Shuttered in 2003, the candy company's south Chicago plant stood empty and creepy until 2007, when it was demolished by Christopher Nolan for this iconic Dark Knight scene.
