The 1980s had a hefty supply of fast-paced and intelligent action films, including Aliens, Predator, The Terminator, and Die Hard.

And who could forget about RoboCop? Even though the story of a dead cop turned into a cyborg sounds dumb, Paul Verhoeven turned this idea into a fast-paced, clever, thought-provoking satirical masterpiece.

RoboCop has become such a defining character in cinema, it's easy to forget that he has a grand total of ONE good movie. Not only did the sequels and reboot suck, the four TV series (yes, there have been that many) are borderline unwatchable.

Unlike other entries on this list, it's tricky to pinpoint why so many adaptations of RoboCop failed. The sequels and the remake weren't generic action flicks and maintained the satirical aspects of the original. And yet, they just didn't work.

Nevertheless, Hollywood is adapting the property once again. Director Abe Forsythe is pulling a Halloween by releasing a sequel called RoboCop Returns, which is a direct follow-up to the original, ignoring everything that came after.

Considering there are zero details about this project (including a release date), things aren't looking great for the future of RoboCop.
