Before the MCU dominated the Hollywood box-office, Spider-Man was already the most popular Marvel superhero thanks to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

Yet, bringing him into the MCU alongside the likes of Iron Man and Captain America always seemed like an impossible task considering the rivalry between Disney and Sony. But that all changed in 2016, when Tom Holland was cast as the web-slinging teenager for Captain America: Civil War.

Since then, Holland has made the role his own as he not only reflects the youthful excitement of a teenage superhero but also embodies the character's dorky charisma.

But Tom Holland's crowning moment as Spider-Man was not actually scripted. In Avengers: Infinity War, just after Thanos's snap, Peter Parker realizes he has become an unfortunate casualty. He stumbles towards his mentor, Tony Stark, with a frightened expression on his face.

He then utters the heartbreaking line, "I don't want to go," before disintegrating to dust. It's easily the most emotional goodbye in the film as the audience feels the full effect of seeing their beloved heroes perish.

The proceeding line "I don't feel so good" was actually in the final script but Holland believed he could enhance the emotional weight of the moment and therefore improvised the rest. This not only proves that Tom Holland truly lives and breathes Spider-Man, but that he has remarkable acting talent.
