10 Iconic Directors Who Don't Have A Film In The IMDb Top 250

6. Wes Craven

Best Known For: The Hills Have Eyes, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Scream Most Deserving IMDb Top 250 Candidate: A Nightmare On Elm Street Wes Craven is one of the most acclaimed and influential horror directors of all-time; even if you've never seen any of his films, you sure as hell know their names. Craven started his career with the creepy thriller The Last House on the Left, before cementing himself as a fully-fledged icon with horror classics The Hills Have Eyes an A Nightmare on Elm Street. Later, he set about parodying and sending up the genre he'd helped to define with the '90s classic that is Scream. It's shocking to discover that not even one of Craven's films has a place on the IMDb Top 250; you'd expect something like Scream, a picture that has been fully embedded in the popular culture mindset, to have at least amassed a higher score than 7.2, whilst A Nightmare on Elm Street - Craven's best film, perhaps - only garners a score of 7.5. Still, even if Craven's work isn't to everyone's taste, his status as an icon is undisputed.
