10 Iconic Directors Who Don't Have A Film In The IMDb Top 250

4. David O. Russell

Best Known For: Three Kings, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle Most Deserving IMDb Top 250 Candidate: Silver Linings Playbook David O. Russell is a talented modern filmmaker whose recent films everybody seems to adore - what's more, they're memorable, they're accessible and they all star Jennifer Lawrence. If all that can't land you a film on the IMDb Top 250, then what will? It's somewhat shocking to learn, then, that not one of Russell's acclaimed films - Three Kings, The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle among them - have managed to nab him a spot. What's going on there, then? Whilst Silver Linings Playbook has a fairly good rating of 7.8 on the IMDb, American Hustle has a surprisingly low score of just 7.3; apparently audiences didn't eat it up like the critics did (they collectively granted it a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes - go figure). The Fighter very much feels like a movie that could break the Top 250, and indeed - for a time - it was actually on there. Still, whilst Russell is certainly an icon, the IMDb doesn't seem to agree.
