One of the most influential names of movie monsters as we know them, one slender white man has made countless creatures come to through his years under rubber masks and pliable plastics, appearing in the industry in 1985 and sinking his bendy limbs deeply to the horror community. Starting out as a contortionist and ending up as the go-to spooky guy for Guillermo del Toro, Doug Jones has put in years of back breaking performances to collate a list of movies as impressive as he has.

Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus, Abe Sapien in Hellboy, and the amphibian man in The Shape of Water are all counted amongst his best works - but he still manages to add some flavour to otherwise bland projects like The Bye Bye Man with his creepy ways. Most impressively, Doug played both The Faun and the nightmare-inducing Pale Man in Pan's Labyrinth, a world away from his normal self.

Funnily enough, playing demonic entities, impossible creatures, and scary monsters seems almost ironic in the face of Jones being a devout Christian - but perhaps his religious roots are what give his creations that extra flair of supernatural terror.
