10 Iconic Horror Death Scenes That Were Much Better Than The Films

Resident Evil - Colin Salmon

Gloopy CGI monsters, corny one liners and the desecration of a well loved gaming franchise makes 'Resident Evil' a guilty pleasure in anyone's DVD collection. With rights to a film series bought in 1997 the 'Resident Evil' franchise was originally set to be a George Romero project. Lets face it, if anyone is going to take on the zombie genre it should be Romero. Sadly due to creative differences Romero was fired during pre-production and the film was handed over to Paul W.S. Anderson, the rest is history. The original film follows our amnesiac heroine Alice, played by no nonsense Milla Jovovich as she follows a group of commandos, trying to infiltrate a secret facility following a biohazard incident. It was a tough one for the best death, the opening scene with the woman in the lift comes a close second, but the choice goes to Colin Salmon. As the commando unit attempt to take down evil supercomputer The Red Queen, the security systems kick in. Limbs begin to fly as laser beams come towards them, leaving James Shade One as the sole survivor. Even some impressive choreographic moves can't save the group leader and the laser grid slices him into a pineapple hedgehog before you can say Milla Jovovich. What the franchise lacks in substance it certainly makes up for in financial success, cited at the most successful film series based on video games ever. Last year saw the release of the fifth film 'Resident Evil: Retribution' and a sixth instalment is planned for next year. Salmon reprised his role as James Shade One for 'Retribution' as did Michelle Rodriguez from the first. After five films it was refreshing, if a little bit tenuous to see them back, proving that in 'Resident Evil,' no one is ever really dead.
