5. Passengers On Condor Airlines - Mega Shark Versus. Giant Octopus (2009)
It is rare that you can never find a redeeming feature of a film, 'Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus' is no exception, but there literally is only one redeeming feature! In a scene that will have you screaming WTF at the screen for hours to come. Defying gravity and all logical film making, we see the Mega Shark leaps from the ocean and pull down a plane from the sky. If you are expecting believable CGI- look away, if you are expecting heroic dialogue- look away, if you are expecting it to make and sense to the plot of the film- look away. But seeing is believing! Given the premise of the hunt for two prehistoric creatures it could be an amazing blockbuster in the hands of Scott or Spielberg. Given to film studio 'The Asylum' you are left with something that should be banished to the deepest depths of the SyFy channel and remain there with 'Sharknado.' The cast of 'Mega Shark Versus Giant Ocotpus' comprises of veteran actor Lorenzo Lamas and singer Deborah Gibson, originally supposed to be titled 'Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus 3D'. Despite being quite a mouthful, the studio couldn't secure financial backing for 3D and we were left with the straight to DVD 2D version. Something obviously worked because 2010 saw the release of 'Mega Shark Versus Crocosaurus'. The recent Twitter buzz surrounding 'Sharknado' shows there is definitely a market for this genre. Cory Monteith's final tweets related to 'Sharknado' and the SyFy film gained more Twitter buzz than 'Game of Thrones' Red Wedding. Films such as this are something you have to take with a very large pinch of salt, sit back and enjoy the hilarity, or switch over.
