10 Iconic Horror Villains Of The Past Decade

10. Victor Crowley (Hatchet)

Adam Green definitely set out to create a new horror icon in Hatchet, and for the most part he really succeeded by introducing audiences to Victor Crowley. Victor was a deformed child whose father kept him secluded from the rest of the world, and one day a bunch of horrible kids threw fireworks into his house. As Victor was burning alive, his father tried to save him by busting down the door with a hatchet, but instead he accidentally hit Victor and killed him. So Victor is essentially like a modern version of Jason Voorhees. Like Jason, Victor is a deformed murderer who had something tragic happen to him when he was a young boy, and so now he goes around killing people for revenge (even though nobody he kills had anything to do with his death). He's a memorable if not totally unique villain with a grotesque appearance that sort of resembles Jason when he takes off the hockey mask. Victor's a character you sympathize with but are still absolutely terrified of, and that's a pretty good formula for a horror villain.
