10 Iconic Movie Roles That Would Be Almost Impossible To Recast

7. Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia

princess-leia At first glance, Princess Leia seems like the least likely character on this list to be recast. Thus far, the Star Wars rumor mill has yet to generate any significant chatter about recasting the role. Carrie Fisher is even willing to reprise the role in Episode VII, if called upon. The only scenario that would require a recasting is a prequel. It may not happen in the next five years, but with Disney releasing a new Star Wars film every year as of 2015, spinoffs and prequels will be necessary to maintain such a release schedule. Prequels would likely center around popular characters from the franchise whose adventures began prior to Episode IV. Han Solo and Boba Fett prequels have already been rumored as possible options, so it€™s not hard to imagine Princess Leia being looked at somewhere down the line. Her struggle with the Empire seemed to begin long before fans first met her in A New Hope. A portion of that struggle, or an origin story that picks up awhile after her birth in Episode III could be seen as viable options. The comment section below this article will no doubt feature at least one post condemning such a recasting. Princess Leia is a character with an image that supersedes hardcore fandom. She is a true icon that even people only pretending to be nerds fancy. The amount of attention on a mere casting search would be massive, so Disney would have to find a young actress willing and able to stand up the guaranteed scrutiny.
