3. Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter

The
Harry Potter franchise will likely be rebooted at some point. It is worth way too much money to Warner Bros. to remain on the shelf. The studio can only repackage and sell limited edition box sets for so long. If Warner Bros. can get a DC universe on film rolling, the demand for a
Potter remake may decrease temporarily, but that would only delay the inevitable. Daniel Radcliffe is an unusual case as the only person to ever play the title character. Unlike any other character on this list, audiences around the world watched him literally grow up as the character. A younger generation of fans now entering early adulthood grew up along with Radcliffe. An experience that unique may very well have strengthened the connection the audience feels to Radcliffe as Harry Potter. If that is the case, it could be very difficult for moviegoers to find a similar attachment to a new actor in the role. The fact that the franchise is based on very specific source material will not make it easy for the new kid to separate himself from what Radcliffe did as a means to get around that connection. Waiting is the best strategy as future fans are born everyday and these kids will probably be happy to get "their" cinematic incarnation of the character. Perhaps the studio can take more creative liberties with the source material in order to give the new actor some breathing room to provide established fans with something new. The trick, of course, will be walking that fine line between fresh and unfaithful.
