If you had to chose the most iconic science fiction horror movie of all time you'd be hard pushed to select a movie more fitting than Ridley Scott's genre-defining 1979 film, Alien. Few films have stood the test of time and endured quite so well as this classic first installment in the franchise. H. R. Giger's stunning creature design combined with Scott's mastery of atmosphere and tension have ensured Alien's place in the pantheon of cinematic greats, and on the whole it's as much of a visual treat today as it was decades ago. That said, the infamous chest burster scene doesn't quite live up to the hype it once generated, and as surprising as it is on first watch, revisiting this iconic scene today shows up its flaws. It certainly still looks good, but you have to admit that the chest burster bears more than a passing resemblance to a little puppet being manipulated by someone's hand.
