9. Thor
There was always going to be a superhero film on here. It is a sign of the times that we live in that there no way there wouldn't be. We are inundated with Superhero movies yearly, and surely it is only a matter of time before a superhero movie based on an existing IP is turned into a musical. Well, no. It's not. Executives would never be that brave but while we are here may I submit Thor as a possible candidate if they are feeling brave. There are arguments to be made about an Iron Man or Dark Knight musical, although for me the best super hero to go with is Thor. I always described Thor are the Power Rangers performing Shakespeare in space. The story clearly has operatic tones that would be suited to song form. You have the protagonist banished from the kingdom. The trixy brother trying take control of the kingdom. You have an opposing army on the verge of marching against them all. This is classic form and this kind of massive, family entwined exuberance would make a great musical.
