9. Extravagant Costumes
A New Hope definitely had some iconic costumes - Darth Vader has arguably the most iconic costume in cinema history - but the majority of the cast remains in one costume the entire film. When it comes to the sequels, even Vader gets an upgrade for Empire, as his suit onwards looks a lot more high quality and polished.
From Empire onwards the costume department seems to really step up its game.
First example of a badass costume is Boba Fett, the character barely has any lines in the original trilogy, but his look is what makes him a fan hit. Everyone wanted a Boba Fett figure before he had even debuted!
Secondly is the aforementioned golden bikini. Whether you're a fan of the look or not, it cannot be denied that it is iconic with the franchise.
And finally, Queen Amidala's first outfit in the Phantom Menace is stunning! Yes we all saw that it was plugged in for that shot of her watching the invasion of Theed, but that outfit shows the attention and dedication put forward by the costume department for the franchise.
