9. Jonathan Kent Walks Into A Tornado
From one fathers stupid decision to another, as Jonathan Kent subjects his adopted son to further trauma by wandering into a tornado. At first glance, Pa Kents logic might seem sound he wants Clark to keep his powers a secret until hes ready, so tells him to avoid situations where he would have to use them. Seems fair finding out an 11-year-old can bench-press a house would freak most people out. However, this doesnt account for sheer bad luck and actual acts of God. Sure, when threatened by some douche in a Letterman jacket, its probably not ok for Clark to bring the Kryptonian fury. But when a whacking great tornado turns up just down the road, its surely alright to wade in hes already done the same when he saved a schoolbus, and though his Dad wasnt exactly happy about it, he still acknowledged it was the right thing to do. But no, Jonathan Kent demands he stay under the overpass while he gets wiped out by Kansas freak weather. This wouldnt even harm Clark just a few years later, we see hes able to survive an exploding oil rig and several Kryptonians laying the smackdown. And hed only be seen by a few people remember, this is 1997 people dont tend to have cameras and recording devices to hand, and if they did, the tornado would make the resolution incredibly shonky. The worst part? Clark clearly didnt learn his lesson. Just a couple of years later we see him passive-aggressively shishkebab an unruly drinkers truck with several large objects. Surely carrying out his vengeance here is a far showier act than walking onto the edge of a tornado? I hardly think any passers-by will shrug off a man demolishing an 18-wheeler with telegraph poles. Also, how the hell didnt anyone in the bar
hear that?
