10 Image Comics That Would Make Great Movies (And How To Make Them)

As two of Image's most prolific and talented creators, Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips have a reputation for spinning gold every time they introduce a new series. The duo have crafted some of the finest noir comics of the last twenty years, with Fatale ranking among the best.

The series follows the exploits of Jo, the ultimate femme fatale; a woman with the uncanny ability to make men fall deeply and madly in love with her, to the point of their own destruction. The stylish neo-noir homage soon spins out into a dark, Lovecraftian horror story, as Jo's powers come to light, and she is pursued by a sinister group of cultists.

It's a real page turner, packed to the brim with flawed and underhanded characters, human or otherwise. There are two ways you could take a film adaptation: either accentuate the book's noir elements and make a cut-and-dry, uber dark crime thriller, or take the story down a more cerebral, psychological route.

Robert Rodriguez would make great work of the former - his Sin City adaptation was essentially the noir genre firing on all cylinders - whereas David Lynch is the perfect choice to take the series to new, bizarre places, as Blue Velvet and Lost Highway already stand out as esoteric love letters to the femme fatale.
