10 Incredible Casts That Were Wasted On Really Awful Movies

7. The Avengers

Cast: Ralph Fiennes, Sean Connery, Uma Thurman, Jim Broadbent, Fiona Shaw, Eddie Izzard, Eileen Atkins, Cameron Ejogo, Keeley Hawes, John Wood and Patrick Macnee. Don't worry, we don't mean the 2012 one with superheroes and all that jazz, so hold your death threats. Instead, this is the reboot of the hugely popular '60s TV show of the same name, starring some of the finest actors the UK has to offer with Ralph Fiennes, Sean Connery and Jim Broadbent. With a host of Razzie nominations, putrid scores on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes of 3.6 and 16%, The Avengers is clearly a film that many regard as one of the worst films of the 1990's. With all of the talent involved (and unfortunately Uma Thurman, who was not long before this demonised for her role in Batman & Robin), you would have expected this reboot to kickstart a series of films that the franchise could have been proud of. Instead it only ticked off the fans of the original series, ticked off everyone who hadn't even heard of the original series, and ticked off everyone involved with making it. It stands as one of the final few nails in the coffin of Sean Connery's career, and a big, bumbling mess of a movie that made over $11 million less than its budget, which was far higher than it deserved or needed. There's little wonder that director Jeremiah S. Chechik has had little to do in his career ever since.
