6. Jennifer Connelly's Tear - Blood Diamond
This one's a bit weird and kinda insulting if you're Jennifer Connelly, I guess. It's as though director Edward Zwick was filming this emotional scene between DiCaprio and Connelly, thought he had everything he needed, then got to the edit bay and decided it needed some weeping just to convey the fact that, if you hadn't guessed already, this is supposed to be a sad scene. I have no doubts that Connelly could have brought the tears if asked, so why was this not just sorted out on set, especially given that Connelly was clearly making the whimpering noises already. Could she really not cry? Whatever the reason, it sets a disturbing precedent as far as performances go; if an actor can't act, it can now be fixed in post-production, which is great for filmmakers, though not so good for audiences (if they can ever tell the difference), and actors (who are slowly being phased out of a job).
