10 Incredible Fan Films That Totally Succeeded Where Hollywood Failed

1. Lego Jurassic Park

By far and away the most ambitious entry in this list also happens to be the most heartwarming. Earlier this year, a father and daughter team released a three-minute recreation of Jurassic Park, made using nothing more than stop-motion animation, $100,000 worth of Lego bricks, and a lot of time and patience.

Since its release in 1993, Hollywood has tried and failed to recapture the magic of Spielberg's original. Two direct sequels have been widely panned, and every other movie that's featured history's favourite overgrown lizards has seemed cheap and tacky by comparison, but something about this adaptation reminds you exactly how exciting it all was as a child.

Faithfully recreating some of the best scenes from the film, the short manages to capture all the enchantment of the original whilst adding a lot of the toytronic charm that made The Lego Movie so popular. It really is a triumph of filmmaking, and all the more so when you consider that a 9-year-old was at the helm.
