10 Incredible Movie Performances That Have Flown Under The Radar In 2019
3. Zach Galifianakis In Missing Link
Missing Link stands as possibly the best animated feature that nobody actually watched in 2019, which is a bit of shame.
Whereas the likes of Frozen 2 and How to Train Your Dragon 3 all proved to be safe financial wins, Missing Link opted for a more daring route and unfortunately that risk didn't pay off.
Zach Galifianakis, voicing the titular role, embodied the dry brand of comedy that would become the calling card of the Laika production and his warming presence as the fish-out-of-water, Mr. Susan Link, kept the film ticking along at a breezy and enjoyable pace.
His delivery of perfectly timed one-liners was combined with an endearing loyalty to the man who had promised to take him home to his relatives, Sir Lionel Frost (Hugh Jackman) and made for one of the most enjoyable performances committed to screen this year.
With the likes of Jackman, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Fry, Timothy Olyphant and Emma Thompson all attached to the project, it's still remarkable to think that this thoughtful animation only managed to earn $26.2 million at the box office.
However, if you do manage to watch this gem, Galifianakis' performance will make you wish you'd caught the movie on the big screen.
