10 Incredible Performances In Recent Horror Movies
2. Rebecca Hall - The Night House
Rebecca Hall's mesmerising performance in David Bruckner's new psychological horror film The Night House is sure to be 2021's Oscar-worthy performance in a horror film that gets totally ignored by the Academy.
Hall plays Beth, a woman who recently lost her husband to suicide and spends the bulk of the movie unpacking that loss while making sense of the increasingly surreal, possibly supernatural occurrences in her home.
As a portrait of a devastated woman dealing with the multitude of feelings brought about by a loved one's suicide - anger, sadness, regret - Hall commands the screen in every moment, capturing the most subtle emotions of grief in the process.
It's without question the finest performance of her career to date - which is no small statement - and one which would receive major awards buzz were the Academy not so grossly biased against horror.
