10 Incredible Sci-Fi Movie Universes We Need More Of

3. Avatar

With Avatar’s pop culture relevance fading as we steadily approach the release of Cameron’s three upcoming sequels, harking back to the opening weekend at the end of 2009 is really something to remember.

In the form of a near three-hour epic, Cameron brought to life one of the most well-realised sci-fi worlds brought to film. Many may criticise it for its predictably worn story, yet with that story wrapped around floating mountains, colossal trees, and flying banshees, it was one of the most immersive experience at the cinema – especially if you were lucky enough to see it in IMAX.

The mere mention of upcoming sequels can be nothing more than good news for sci-fi fans, who yearn from another dose of the astoundingly beautiful Pandora – with Camera reportedly taking to the moon planet's seas for Jake Sully’s next outing.

Along with the confidence that its predecessor is the recently dethroned highest grossing movie of all time, Avatar will come with the impressive budget needed to bring this world to life once again, and we are adamant that the wait will be worth it.
