10 Incredible Sci-Fi Movie Universes We Need More Of
2. Alien
The Alien franchise has struggled to hit the high marks of its first two entries, as its subsequent sequels and spin-offs have been met with middling reactions. Yet with the world of Alien being so perfectly encapsulated in the original film, a further exploration of a universe with truckers in space, space-faring mega-companies, and ancient derelict ships would be an opportunity wasted if not taken on.
While Prometheus and Covenant were missteps to a lot of fans, they undoubtedly tickled the curiosities of others, as they teased the origins of man and flirted with the idea of android takeovers. With the reveal of Android, David, being the true creator of the Xenomorph we know and love, and a ship full of unwilling test subjects for him to play around with, the future of Alien is on the fine see-saw of choosing who its antagonist truly is.
While many me be turned off due to its increasing distance from the simplicity of the original and it may not always hit the mark, it is too great a sci-fi universe to simply pass up, and one that had undoubtedly left its doors wide open for a deeper exploration.
