10 Incredibly Annoying Characters Who Almost Ruined 2013 Movies
4. Maya - Iron Man 3
Rebecca Hall is a great actor, so it was certainly exciting to hear that she would be playing Maya Hansen in Iron Man 3, who actually had a decent purpose in the first two acts of the movie, as a confusingly willing scientist aiding Killian in his development of Extremis. We had been promised that Maya would play a large role in the film, but she ended up mattering little to the plot, both romantically and in terms of the drama. Granted, she had a fling with Stark toward the beginning, but nothing really develops between them, and it feels like a set-up for a very disposable joke (and a typically retrospective nod to action movie heroes sleeping with people who would go on to betray them.) From there, she becomes something of a damsel in distress, who serves only a narrative purpose and who commands no empathy whatsoever. She was underwhelming, poorly developed, and simply didn't fit in with the story, and the final testament to her profile is that it was actually good to see her killed off.
