10 Incredibly Talented Actors Who Should Really Call It A Day
1. Nicolas Cage
And coming in at number 1, is the cream-of-the-crop, the one people most love to ridicule, and the one making the biggest loads of trash today: Nicolas Cage. This mans career is probably the worst downward spiral of any actor in history.
A nephew of Francis Ford Coppola, Nicolas Cage almost immediately became a star with Rumble Fish, Raising Arizona, Moonstruck before having a string of hits in the 90s and stunning performances in Leaving Las Vegas, and Adaptation, which both earned him Academy recognition. Thats right. Nicolas Cage won an Oscar in 1995. A well-deserved one, too.
Heres the thing: I actually like Nicolas Cage. At one point, I thought that his problem was not so much his own acting ability, but the roles that he chooses, which may push him to overact. But, if that was the case, then why are there video montages of the worst acting moments of Nicolas Cage, or entire websites devoted to making fun of him? Seriously, how could just picking bad movies make a talented actor so much worse? Just watch the bees scene in The Wicker Man, and you will know EXACTLY what Im talking about...
Matchstick Men, released in 2003, is probably Cages last good movie. It is the point right before he spun out of control and did bad movie after bad movie. There is the aforementioned Wicker Man remake, two Ghost Rider movies, Season of the Witch, Next, Drive Angry, Trespass, a disappointing National Treasure sequel, Knowing, Seeking Justice. Seriously, whoever Cages agent is, he should be fired immediately.
My real question is why Cage is still marketable? His movies are horrifically bad, PLUS they dont make a huge amount of money. And after someone does a string of bad movies, he shouldnt be allowed to do movies anymore. Its as simple as that! The people who hire him must be the same ones that hired M. Night Shyamalan. I think, Mr. Cage, that its time to call it a day.
So, that is my list. Do you agree or disagree? Which actors did I miss? Leave your comments below. And thanks for reading!
