10 Incredibly Talented Actors Who Should Really Call It A Day
9. Dustin Hoffman
And, at number 9, here is another actor that I hate to say anything bad about. One of my personal favorites, Dustin Hoffman is probably one of the most chameleonic character actors out there. Hoffman has played, among others: an adolescent struggling to find meaning in life after college, one of the best representations of a dirty, yet compassionate con man, a man who dresses as a woman, the legendary comedian Lenny Bruce, a guy with Aspergers Syndrome, etc. Since his Academy Award win in 1989 for Rain Man, though, Hoffman has done almost nothing that rivals his early career, though with a few honorable mentions (Sleepers, Wag the Dog, Stranger Than Fiction).
Wait, but he just directed the movie Quartets last year, which was a good effort for a first-time director. Remember, though, this list is just about acting. Maybe Hoffman should just direct now instead? Either that, or start picking better movies!
So, after doing two Meet the Parents sequels (I really dont like those, in case you cant tell), and one of the worst comedies of recent years (Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium), Dustin should really think about retiring. Sure, hes had an occasional hit, but nothing to rival his work in the 70s and 80s. Oh Dusty, come back to us!
