10 Indications The Golden Globes Have Given Us For The Oscars

4. Her Isn€™t Getting Left Out

No one directing today makes more unique movies than Spike Jonze, and Her just might be his most idiosyncratic story yet. It€™s hard for common audiences to get behind a movie that is seemingly about a man falling in love with a voice modulator, but thankfully Jonze€™s ideas aren€™t too strange for professional critics and awards panels. Those that look for a deeper meaning in Her - and all of Jonze's films for that matter - will be greatly rewarded with a smart experience they can take away something socially relevant from. In a show filled with nominations for American Hustle, 12 Years A Slave, and Captain Phillips, it was refreshing to watch a total dark horse take a prestigious screenplay award home. It also has a great shot at taking home the Oscar too considering that it€™s a category both panels usually see eye to eye on, and the Academy separates Best Screenplay into Original and Adapted categories, which obviously strengthens Her€™s chances. Furthermore, I just think it's about time the Academy rewards Spike Jonze with an Oscar for creating these original masterpieces that really are unlike anything else out there.
