10 Inescapable Plot Holes In Avengers: Endgame
9. The Avengers Are Experts On The Infinity Stones All Of A Sudden
The Avengers know very little about the Infinity Stones. Although Bruce Banner and Tony Stark are legitimate geniuses, neither has studied the Stones themselves or their properties. Up until the events of Infinity War, they were still getting exposition dumps about what the Stones actually were, and Thanos destroyed them only three weeks later.
But let’s agree that, with Rocket’s help, the Science Bros. can open the Tesseract and the Orb, dismantle the Sceptre, and build their own Infinity Gauntlet. What about the Reality Stone?
After all, the other singularities are already in Stone form: but the Aether is a free-floating amorphous liquid. None of the Avengers know what its physical/metaphysical properties are in that state. None of them except Thor have even seen it.
Given this fact, the movie’s already engaged in frantic handwaving to suggest that Rocket can remove the Aether from Jane Foster with a handheld device they’ve cobbled together in complete ignorance, let alone transfer it from said Plot-O-Matic and convert/solidify it into Infinity Stone form.
This is cosmic magic they can barely get their heads around, much less control.
But even if you take that staggering leap of faith… how does Steve Rogers expect to reverse the process all on his own?
He leaves 2023 holding a case with six Stones and a magic hammer.
What was his plan? To throw the Reality Stone at Jane in Asgard and hope for the best?
