10 Inescapable Plot Holes In Avengers: Endgame

6. How Do Stark And Rogers Travel To 1970?

Avengers Endgame Stark Death
MCU

The time machine Stark, Lang and Banner create is a larger, Starkier version of Pym’s original quantum tunnel, and is solely responsible for shrinking them down to subatomic size and catapulting them through the quantum realm. Those wrist-gadgets, on the other hand, are described as being like GPS, allowing them to PING back to the time and place they came from.

So how do Rogers and Stark travel back to 1970 from 2012? First of all, they literally just enter the destination date - 7th April 1970 - into their wrist devices (as if it was Back To The Future, funnily enough). What about location?

Second and most importantly - how do they do it without using the quantum tunnel? They don't ping back to 2023 first and then go back to 1970 - they only have one set of Pym particles anyway, and they’ve already given the Sceptre to Lang and told him to go back to 2023 without them.

How can they use the wrist devices to access and navigate the quantum realm without using the quantum tunnel parked in 2023?
