rambo2The Original: 1982's stunning First Blood, depicting the return home of Vietnam veteran John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone), as he contends with the Sheriff of a small town who doesn't appreciate his presence. Unfortunately, most associate the word "Rambo" with the senseless shoot-em-up' violence of the next two sequels, ahead of a fourth film that tried to be a little more thoughtful, though is also most remembered for its nauseating level of violence. How To Make It Not Suck: Casting a young, physical actor (not a bodybuilder) as Rambo is vital, and a reboot needs to hew closer to the humanist themes of both the original movie and its source novel. With the right balance of thoughtfulness and kick-ass action, a Rambo reboot could help reclaim the soldier's good name.
