10 Infamous Movie Moments That Prove You Should Avoid Marriage

1. Blue Valentine - The Office Scene

Blue Valentine

This movie can be declared a PSA of why marriage is just a bad idea period. Blue Valentine examines the gradual unraveling of marriage. Cindy (Michelle Williams) and Dean (Ryan Gosling) are the couple who struggle with themselves, their insecurity and each other. There are a plethora of moments that make you want to shun marriage -- an argument that gets so heated in the car that Cindy stops the car, says she needs to pee and runs into the woods to just breathe and leave the tension (the underlying reasoning for the argument is revealed later in the film), a sex scene that falls apart in a seedy love-motel when Dean notices that Cindy would rather be doing something else, but probably the most telling moment is when Dean decides to confront Cindy at her place of work (uh-oh).

Dean shows up, drunk, to a small clinic where Cindy is a nurse. Cindy, trying to deflect the chaos, convinces Dean to go outside and hands him the car keys. She demands that he drive home--even though he is inebriated. Dean refuses and follows Cindy BACK into the clinic and they begin an uncomfortable screaming match in an office. It gets to a crucial point when Cindy screams "THERE IS NOTHING HERE LEFT FOR YOU" and Dean starts to destroy the office. A snoopy (well-intentioned) nurse-friend and the doctor (who just unsuccessfully hit on Cindy before Dean arrives) come in to intervene. Dean knocks out the doctor who falls to the floor. Not surprisingly, Cindy yells for a divorce.

So, there you have it. 10 Infamous Moments that make you want to avoid marriage. Did I get it right? What movies did I miss? What movies don't belong on this list? Leave it in the comments!
