10 Infamous Movie Moments That Prove You Should Avoid Marriage

9. Under The Tuscan Sun - Francis' Husband Leaves Her And Wants All Her Stuff

Under The Tuscan Sun Francis (Diane Lane) is a successful writer with a beautiful house and a great husband... or so we think. A disgruntled author who Francis previously gave a bad review, finds pleasure in telling Francis that her husband is cheating on her. In a devastating scene, Francis finds out through her lawyer that a) her husband has been having an affair, b) he wants the house c) because his mistress loves the house and is pregnant with their child. It somehow gets worse. Her husband has the audacity to pursue alimony and since California (where the movie initially takes place) is a no fault state, it doesn't matter that he had an affair. So, he wants half the house (which she renovated with her mother's money) and alimony. Diane Lane is compelling as she takes all this information in and breaks down thus convincing us that getting married is a bad idea. Even worse? This movie is based on a true story.
