10 Infamous Movie Star And Director Bust-Ups

1. Faye Dunaway vs Roman Polanski

For all the verbal insults and punches thrown behind Hollywood sets over the years, nothing has quite compared to what Faye Dunaway launched at director Roman Polanski during the filming of the 1974 American classic Chinatown. Infuriated by having to endure what she saw as utterly pointless repeat takes, Dunaway's rage struck boiling point when Polanski refused her a bathroom a break. Instead of slinking off to the restroom when his back was turned, Dunaway proceeded to urinate in a coffee cup, pick it up, and toss it into the director's face. An act so abhorrent that Bonnie & Clyde themselves might have grimaced, Dunaway continued to remain as the female face of American seventies cinema despite this incident and her overall difficult reputation. Polanski himself though remained well clear, describing Dunaway as a "gigantic pain in the ass", and even suggesting that the actress was actually insane. Polanski has suffered with several huge issues since the release of Chinatown - remaining in exile from the US after being accused of rape in 1977 - but has continued to release a wide variety of pictures ever since. Dunaway refuses to speak about the incident to this day; effectively tearing journalist Xan Brooks a new one when he asked her about it a few years back. Ah, good old crazy Hollywood.
