10 Infuriating Movie Sub-Plots That Are Still Unresolved

8. Batman Returns - What Happened To Max Shreck's Toxic Power Plant?

Batman Returns might be a brilliant example of how to do multiple villains in a superhero film well, but it sure did leave a few sub plots hanging. One of the biggest was the story surrounding Max's toxic power plant, a project so ambitious he would literally kill to stop his secrets being exposed. And kill he does. When Selina Kyle discovers evidence that the power plant will siphon off power from the Gotham electrical grid and give the Shreck family a hugely profitable energy monopoly, he throws her out of the office window. Fortunately, those nifty cats in the ally below resurrect her into the PVC-clad Catwoman. It was such a big part of the plot; Selina dies for it, the Penguin uses its secrets to blackmail Max into joining him and Bruce Wayne opposes it. Yet this sub plot disappears approximately half way through the film in favour of the Penguins power struggle for mayor of Gotham city. At least Selina gets her revenge with an fatal €˜electric€™ kiss, but that leads us to another forgotten question - whatever happened to Catwoman?
