10 Infuriating Movie Sub-Plots That Are Still Unresolved
7. The Lost World: Jurassic Park - What Was The World's Reaction To The T-Rex Rampaging Through San Diego?
This was the big question when Jurassic Park 3 was announced. A real life dinosaur rampaged through the streets of San Diego. Innocent people died. The beast was captured and transported back to the island it came from with all the world's cameras watching. Just what would the fallout of San Diego be? Turns out€nothing. The moral debate voiced by Ian Malcolm in the first film - what right to do we have to bring dinosaurs back and can we control them? - was the perfect starting point for the third film and yet it was all but discarded in favour of another island-bound adventure that had little new to say. Dr Alan Grant makes a passing reference to the world's awareness of living dinosaurs in Jurassic Park III but that was all this sub plot amounted to, and the ending of The Lost World: Jurassic Park had no impact on what came next. Perhaps Jurassic World might pick up that story up when the saga continues next year?
Honourable Mention - The Cannister Of Dinosaur Embryos From Jurassic Park
Of course, any mention of abandoned sub plots in the Jurassic park franchise wouldn't be complete without a mention of the dinosaur embryos stolen by Dennis Nedry in the first film. When he was killed during an unfortunate incident with a Dilophosaurus, the can of shaving cream containing the embryos was lost and buried in the mud on the island. The lingering camera shot suggested there was more to come on this story, yet it was never mentioned again.
