10 Insane Actor Transformations Never Rewarded With An Oscar

5. Tom Hardy €“ Bronson (2008)

Tom Hardy Bronson Tom Hardy went from skinny pretty boy to a convincing hardened street fighter and Britain€™s €œmost violent prisoner€ in €œBronson.€ He gained 42 pounds, but what€™s more is he shaved off his GQ-ready hair and completely absorbed the real-life title character€™s mannerisms. And he did this all in five weeks. He told Ask Men UK that the real Charles Bronson (the prisoner, not the Death Wish guy) was skeptical. €œHe said €˜This kid will never be able to play me.€™ I just told him, €˜Don€™t worry Charlie I€™ll fix it.€™€ Fixed it, he did. Roger Ebert called it €œ92 minutes of rage, acted by Tom Hardy.€ This was high praise for a movie based on a man made out of pure rage. And some consider the Academy€™s overlooking of the performance as a snub.
