10 Insane Alternate Endings To 2017's Biggest Movies (So Far)

1. All The Super Pigs Are Liberated - Okja

Okja is one of the strangest movies ever made, let alone of 2017. It's a bizarre hodgepodge of comedy, social commentary, action, satire, and drama that centres on a "super pig" named Okja, who - after years of living in the wilds of South Korea as a pet to a young girl - is recalled by the evil genetics company who created her.

In the end, we're condition to believe that the company in question - the Mirando Corporation - will be brought to their knees. But director Bong Joon-ho went in a different direction. Though Okja herself is saved from certain death, the Mirando Corporation is left to thrive, with the fates of the other super pigs thrown into question (the likelihood given the ending we got is that they get slaughtered).

Bong Joon-ho wasn't always convinced that this somewhat cynical ending was right for the film, though. His original ending would have seen the Animal Liberation Front, or ALF, coming together to rescue all the super pigs from the hellish processing plant. Later, he decided it wasn't ultimately right for the film. "That seemed too cartoonish," he said, adding: "I wanted to focus on Okja alone."

Though it's horrible to imagine the other super pigs being made into mince meat, the more pessimistic finale does feel more suited to the genre-shifting nature of the film overall... and more in tune with Bong Joon-ho's thoughts on evil corporations.
