When the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released, die-hard fans of the original franchise quickly learned that this was not the beloved story with which they were familiar. Instead of focusing on the adventures of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael, the movie is completely centred around Megan Fox as April O’Neil, the turtles’ sidekick.

In an interview with HitFix, Fox gave a little insight into her character. “There was a lot of girl power that ended up on the cutting room floor, unfortunately,” Fox explained. She went on to mention a “really awesome” scene fighting the Foot Clan, but the filmmakers decided that it wouldn't fit the character they wanted. “I think they were like, ‘Why would a tiny journalist be able to kick so much ass?'”

Fox assumed right. The idea that an inept journalist, such as the character that Fox was portraying, would be able to take out a single member of the Foot, let alone several, is quite preposterous. Then again, the entire movie is preposterous, so perhaps it would have worked out great.
