1. Dwayne Johnson's Pay Day - Red One

There are two things you can almost guarantee whenever Dwayne Johnson is cast in a movie. First, he will use his incredible reach on social media to market the project in ways others simply can't, and second, he will get paid a lot of money.

2024 in particular saw Johnson rake in the big bucks, as he beat out Ryan Reynolds to take the crown of the year's highest-paid actor, with an approximate figure of $88 million.

While a decent chunk of this came from Moana 2, as his initial fee was reportedly buoyed by taking a percentage of the billion-dollar-plus box office gross thanks to his role as executive producer, his bank account was stuffed by Red One more than anything.

Paired with Chris Evans in a Christmas film that saw more negative reviews than positive, and flopped hard at the box office with a global intake of just $84 million against a reported budget of somewhere in the region of $250 million, the fact that The Rock was paid $50 million is insane. The figure, according to Forbes, is believed to be the largest fee-plus-buyout in streaming movie history, but although within that figure also comes his unique marketing ability, was it really worth spending a fifth of Red One's entire budget to get him?
