The Theory
Michael Myers successfully kills Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) once and for all at the end of the movie.
Why It Might Be True
Given that we already know Halloween Kills will be the second in a trilogy of new Halloween movies, what could be more appropriate than giving it an Empire Strikes Back-esque bummer ending in which Laurie is finally murdered for good by Michael?
This would leave fans shocked and desperate to return for the third movie, Halloween Ends, which would then likely see Laurie's granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) facing off against Michael.
Beyond the movie literally being called "Halloween Kills," it'd be embarrassingly predictable if it just ended with Michael once again being "defeated" only to scuttle off for yet another rematch.
Ending the movie with Laurie's demise would meanwhile subvert expectations of the franchise while neatly setting the stage for the threequel, as divisive as Laurie's death will likely be with fans.
