10 Insane Fan Theories For Upcoming Movies (That Might Actually Be True)

10. "Skywalker" Is A New Type Of Force User - Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

The Theory

The Skywalker of the film's title won't refer to either the resurrection of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) or the revelation that Rey (Daisy Ridley) is in fact Luke's daughter after all, but the creation of an entirely new type of Force user - the Skywalker.

Why It Might Be True

It's already been stated that Episode IX will conclusively bring the Jedi/Sith conflict to an end, so what better way than to tear down these structures entirely and create a wholly new order for the next generation of Force-sensitive people?

This would certainly serve as an interesting payoff to Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) desire to "kill the past" and create something new in The Last Jedi. Plus, without the black-and-white Dark/Light distinction, it would be fully up to Force users to decide whether they use their powers for good or evil.

It's been suggested that this could result in The Rise of Skywalker introducing "Gray Jedis" - who, canonically, walk a fine line between the Light and Dark Side - but wouldn't it be a neat tribute for "Skywalker" itself to endure as more than a family name, but a label for a new order of warriors?

Furthermore, if we assume that the title's Skywalker is actually referring to these Force users as a plural, it fits snugly within the naming convention of the previous trilogy-cappers, Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith.

It's inevitable the Episodes X-XII will be with us before we know it, and given that they won't be able to rely on nostalgia as much as the present trilogy, it makes so much sense to establish a new paradigm moving forward.
