Getting cold feet on your wedding day isn't exactly an uncommon occurrence. And even someone deciding to back out of the big day altogether has been known to go down on more than a few occasions.
But then there's those who, similarly to Julia Roberts in 1999's Runaway Bride, have had an unfortunate habit of leaving their partner-to-be in the lead-up to their marriage becoming official on multiple occasions over the years.
And perhaps even more remarkably in the case of the anonymous woman who confessed to calling off two weddings in less than two years back in 2014, said real-life runaway bride actually also ended up being a journalist, too, much like that 1999 rom-com's own Homer Eisenhower "Ike" Graham, played by Richard Gere.
Said anonymous lady's decision to call off both of her planned weddings with her one-time fiancé didn't appear to play out in quite as dramatic a fashion as Maggie Carpenter's many emphatic church exits, mind. But she did still find herself carrying the heavy burden of "runaway bride" in the aftermath, stating that "although the decision to cancel our nuptials was mutual, the spotlight seemed to burn most brightly on me."
