10 Insane Movie Plots That Actually Happened In Real Life

As it goes, the idea of snakes slithering their way into the lives of some unassuming passengers aboard a plane mid-flight isn't all that unrealistic after all.

In the time since Samuel L. Jackson uttered his immortal statement of, "I've had it with these m*therf***ing snakes on this m*therf***ing plane" during 2006's action thriller Snakes on a Plane, no less than two real-life incidents of the titular reptiles causing chaos on a plane have made their way into existence.

January 2017 saw an Emirates flight from Oman to Dubai grounded after a serpent was discovered in the cargo hold by baggage handlers. And a few months earlier in 2016, a commercial flight in Mexico went one better as a green snake found its way into the cabin after dropping down from an overhead luggage compartment.

Sure enough, that latter scenario very quickly resulted in folks bolting up and trying to distance themselves from the unexpected visitor. But as passenger Indalecio Medina would note on the back of the startling discovery, “It was a frightening situation ... but people remained calm because it didn’t get out of that space and nobody became hysterical."

That plane thankfully touched down some 10 minutes later... and all without having to call upon Sam Jackson to save the day.
