10 Insane Movie Stunts They Filmed FOR REAL

7. Dam Bungee Jump - Goldeneye

The next entry comes from the wildly popular James Bond series. Bond has always found himself in desperate situations that no human being would survive, but in 1995's Goldeneye, we were given a dazzling stunt that was far more plausible.

As the first Bond production to emerge in the aftermath of the Cold War, a more serious and grounded tone began to take hold. It was also the debut of Pierce Brosnan as the popular character and as the super-spy races along the top of a dam at the film's opening, we're treated to a brilliant opening flourish.

From the get-go, the film establishes the rendition the actor will bring will a death-defying dive off the contra dam which represented Russia in the film. The feat was performed by stuntman Wayne Michaels who fell 220 feet attached to a cord. Through one continues mid-shot, the adrenaline-charged moment lands with immense impact as Michaels slows towards the bottom and gradually lowers towards infiltrating the base.

The stunt itself has become so iconic, that would-be adventure seekers have tried it for themselves. After the dam was leased out to a bungee jump operator, over 10,000 people have recreated the same jump 007 made over two decades ago.
