9. Brian Returns To The Franchise - F9

The first trailer for F9 makes it plenty clear that the film won't leave audiences wanting for absurdity: it's got John Cena as Dom's (Vin Diesel) villainous brother Jakob Toretto, a rocket-powered car, and will even feature the long-awaited return of Han (Sung Kang).

But scuttlebutt suggests there's another major surprise in store for fans, that "retired" character Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) will be making a comeback to the franchise.

Brian was of course written out in Furious 7 following the untimely death of Paul Walker, with Walker's brothers Caleb and Cody serving as stand-ins to allow completion of his role.

Though that seemed to give Brian a concrete exit from the series, recent word indicates that Cody Walker may be returning to play a stand-in for his brother once again, allowing Brian to make some sort of cameo in F9.

Even if the rumour is true, it's unlikely that Brian's appearance is anything but fleeting, due to the immense VFX challenge of convincingly transplanting Walker's face onto his brother's body.

It'll certainly be a controversial decision with fans, given how poignant Brian's initial send-off was, and the arguably disrespectful nature of posthumously bringing him back into the fold.
