10 Insane Storyboards That Were Too Extreme For The Batman Movies

8. Octopus & Sci-Fi Bane (The Dark Knight Rises)

The Concept: The Dark Knight Rises' additional Blu-ray content revealed some curious concept designs of what Bane could originally have looked like. The two most startling efforts were of Bane with an octopus-inspired mask, and then one design which appeared to mate the traditional comic book Bane with the laughable Joel Schumacher vision of the character. Why It's Too Extreme: The octopus mask is just too different without being particularly menacing: it looks silly and daft rather than scary and weird. Plus, the black mask around his face looks too generic and bland, like Bane's just some random grunt without any personality. As for the more sci-fi design, it just conjures up bad memories of Schumacher's butchering of Bane, and as above, would likely seem too silly for a Christopher Nolan Batman film which is more grounded in reality.
