The Concept: The entrance to Poison Ivy's Botanical Gardens as designed by Patrick Janicke, which resembles the jaws of a non-descript creature, complete with Ivy herself standing atop it and Bane guarding the entrance. Why It's Too Extreme: If even Joel Schumacher finds a concept too flamboyant, then there's probably something really, really wrong with it. In fairness, the likelihood for this ridiculous storyboard not being used is that, considering it would only have been used in one or two shots to establish the scene, the cost of building it (either with a practical set or CGI) simply wouldn't be worth it. Still, even ignoring the finances, it's just too over-the-top and cartoonish, even for a movie that revels so gloriously (and misguidedly) in just that. All this establishing shot would achieve is ramping up the camp just a little bit more and making us all cringe a little bit harder.
