10 Insane Storyboards That Were Too Extreme For The Batman Movies

4. Heavily Scarred Joker (The Dark Knight)

The Concept: Another terrifying Rob Bliss design now, as his rendition of The Joker ditches the green vest and goes for an almost entirely purple wardrobe. Most distinct about this concept of the Clown Prince of Crime is his face: the scars along his mouth are far more crude, his eyes are more sunken in and the cartoonish make-up is scaled back to create a more skeletal Joker. Why It's Too Extreme: The face is likely too much of a departure from the classic design for many: with the white face-paint and red lipstick scaled way back, this Joker is more of a ghoul, which would likely clash with Ledger's more playful, often hilariously dark portrayal of the character. This Joker looks more like a thug, and though it's certainly not a bad design at all, it's more an interesting curiosity, and we're definitely glad they opted for the more over-the-top facial presence that adorned Ledger's interpretation.
