10 Insane Times Supervillains Lost Their Powers

8. Thanos Lost His Gauntlet At The Height Of His Power

During the original Infinity Gauntlet crossover in the comics, Thanos managed to get a hold on the Gauntlet with all the Infinity Gems. Once he snapped his fingers and killed half the universe as a treat for Death, he ended up meeting little more than frustration and resistance from those still alive.

In a display of his power, he defeated the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, including the Celestials, Galactus, and Eternity. When Eternity was under his control, he opted to make himself into Eternity, which transformed his being into the cosmic entity who was everything that ever was, is, or will be in the Marvel Universe.

While he was enjoying this massive power boost, he left his corporeal body behind, which turned out to be a mistake. Earlier, he had resurrected Nebula into a zombie-like being of horrific decay. When she saw his body lying there, unmoving, she made her play and removed the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos' hand.

All the power Thanos had up to that point was instantly removed, and Nebula undid everything he had done over the previous 24 hours. This negated his snap and kept Nebula from being a husk of herself.

Of course, she wouldn't hold onto the power forever either, but Thanos' loss stung far more for the Mad Titan.
